What is Televisa?

Televisa is a Mexican multimedia company, the largest media business in the Spanish-speaking world, and a major player in international entertainment. At Starchannel Marketing LLC in McAllen, Texas, we work directly with US businesses to target this untapped media source. Much of its programming airs in the United States on Univision, with which it has an exclusive contract.

Spanish Television History

Grupo Televisa™ was founded in 1955 as Telesistema Mexicano, linking Mexico's first three television stations in 1952: XHTV-TV in 1950, XEW-TV in 1951 and XHGC-TV. Modern-day Televisa™ is owned by the Azcarraga family, who signed on Mexico's first radio station, XEW-AM, in 1930. Its main headquarters originally was on Avenida Chapultepec in downtown Mexico City and was known as Televicentro. They started operations on February 10, 1952.
